Job Description

Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer will provide program design expertise for the development of corporate training programs and manage the instructional development process, setting standards, evaluating training requirements and developing training solutions that address the identified needs of the business unit .

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as an instructional development consultant and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop learning solutions for end users in individual business units.
  • Determine the training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
  • Develop training materials as needs are determined and ensure all curriculum materials are clear, concise, consistent, instructionally sound and will deliver against the performance and business objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to assess the integrity of instructional materials and support the ongoing assessment of instructional effectiveness for all existing and future training programs.
  • Work with subject matter experts to gain knowledge of content and transform knowledge into effective learning solutions.
  • Organize production and design of training materials.
  • Provide direction and guidance to instructors to ensure that courses are conducted as designed.
  • Identify training issues by reviewing complaints, reports and feedback from management and associates.
  • Evaluate requests for training to determine the most effective method to resolve training issues.
  • Plan and coordinate skill assessments and testing to measure participant retention.
  • Mentor/coach team members to ensure mutual professional development.
  • Perform other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Educational Technology or Education, or four years of relevant experience, or a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to four years. At least four years of instructional design ad course development experience preferred as well as experience with adult learning concepts and industry models.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Communicate effectively in visual, verbal, and written form and possess strong interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Thorough understanding of adult learning principles and group dynamics.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of eLearning tools such as Captivate highly desired.
  • Capable of working independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule and meet deadlines.

  • The work environment utilizes florescent lighting; noise level is moderate.
