Group Health Proposal Manager

The proposal writer produces professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates One Call’s value proposition and works collaboratively as part of enterprise proposal team and with a range of corporate employees, consultants, and partner companies. The successful candidate must be willing to learn and implement best practices with respect to proposal content development processes for a variety of markets including commercial customers, federal government, municipalities, and schools. The proposal writer reports to the director of enterprise proposal services.


  • Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members and key stakeholders
  • Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts
  • Assist the director in developing a proposal structure
  • Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant
  • Deliver completed written proposal responses to the director against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required
  • Re-write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, compliance and legal
  • Ability to coach sales teams and subject matter experts in writing best practice
  • Present all new proposal content to the knowledgebase manager for potential re-use
  • Communicate and influence at a senior level


  • Three to five years of experience with writing and editing proposal content or similar business documents within a complex business environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related major from an accredited college/university or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills
  • Experience of coordinating and updating proposal automation software (or similar) experience, ideally Qvidian
  • Strong time management / prioritization skills
  • Highly organized; able to manage assignments and ensure milestones are met for multiple proposals in different phases of development at any one time
  • Works well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Works independently and makes decisions quickly but willing to seek guidance when necessary
  • Has a client-oriented focus and basic knowledge of the proposal process
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Preferred three to five years of healthcare experience in ancillary services
